NINA KNOX VELASCO

I am a pre-professional dancer currently completing my final year of classical training at the IEA Oriol Martorell. I understand dance as both a rigorous discipline and a space for artistic exploration, where technique becomes a tool for expression rather than an end in itself.

Throughout my training, I have developed a strong classical foundation while actively seeking experiences beyond it—engaging in contemporary work, choreographic creation, and collaborations with professional artists. These experiences have shaped me into a versatile and curious dancer, comfortable adapting to different styles, processes, and creative environments.

I am particularly interested in the intersection between classical and contemporary languages, and in continuing to grow not only as a performer, but also as an artist with a distinct and evolving voice.

Summer Intensives

I have participated in various summer programs to broaden my training.
In 2025, at Benicàssim, I worked with Vincenzo Capezzuto on a duet based on the work of Mauro Bigonzetti, performed outdoors. I have also trained at the Elmhurst Ballet School and in intensives across Spain and the UK.

Creation Workshops

I have worked with professional choreographers in intensive creation processes.

With María Luisa Arias (2024–2025), I developed a piece through a two-week workshop, gaining insight into her movement language and creative method.

In 2025, working with Cayetano Soto exposed me to a contrasting style, expanding my range and adaptability as a performer.

Masterclasses

Alongside technical training, I have engaged in masterclasses that emphasise artistry, interpretation, and adaptability.

Working with different teachers has allowed me to explore variations in dynamics, musicality, and performance quality, pushing me to go beyond execution and focus on intention and presence.

These experiences have strengthened my ability to absorb corrections efficiently, respond to new movement qualities, and remain open to diverse artistic approaches. They have also encouraged me to take risks, expand my range, and develop a more personal connection to movement.

I approach each masterclass as an opportunity to challenge my habits and continue evolving as a versatile and responsive dancer.

Choreographic Experience

Through the “Lab” projects at my conservatory, I have developed and performed my own choreographic work.

In 2025, I co-created a neoclassical duet inspired by Spanish music and culture. In 2026, I created a contemporary quartet, exploring darker atmospheres, texture, and group dynamics.

Both works were selected for performance, allowing me to experience the full creative process and develop my artistic voice.

Dance modeling

I have collaborated with photographers on dance-focused photoshoots.
This experience has strengthened my awareness of line, detail, and expression, as well as my ability to adapt movement for the camera.

Movement is life

Here is a selection of videos showing me performing different styles.
